I log all of my eaten food into the app and also my daily gym workout times. According to the app I usually have a calorie deficit of around 1000 calories. I eat high protein, low carb foods and even use some muscle building supplements. I am looking to get lean while still building muscle, but 1000 calories deficit seem to much. Is it fine?

Get a good mid ground. 500 is the usual deficit. If you are gonna keep ur protein high you can go for 750... Or do 500 deficit with some weight lifting to burn the other 250.You won't lose any muscle. Will be purely fat

we notoriously undertrack our calories and over estimate our exercise calories... so rather than follow any one person's advice or suggestions, do what you're doing for a week and see how you feel. your body will let you know if it's too many calories too quickly 👍🏼

1000 sounds like it’s a lot,

The ideal deficit for a body recomp (which it seems is what you want to achieve) is 25%. But recomps usually only work if you’re a beginner weightlifter. Intermediate/ advanced athletes should rather follow a bulk/cut cycle. I’m an advanced weightlifter and that’s just my two cents 😁

For gym a 500cal deficit is the most you can go. You want to maintain normal energy levels. If you're in a 1000cal deficit you're going to struggle to build muscle

Also, except creatine, protein powder and certain illegal supplements, most sups won't actually do anything noticeable

And don't trust the amount of calories an app says you're burning. They're far from accurate
