Day 62 Today I made yet another date with the same no-show antiques dealer. We had a nice chat on the phone, and he didn't want to hang up - however, I was in the middle of lunch and I had to get back to my spinach pie - they are not so great if they are cold! Maybe we'll meet on Sunday - I am busy, he is busy, that was the first day we were both available! Seems like a nice guy.
Later in the week I will be a museum conference helping out a fellow historical society buff - she has a booth at the New England Museum Association conference so I feel quite la-dee-da being asked to help her - lots of esoteric museum topics to choose from, and she is giving me a free ticket for working at her booth for a few hours - last year I paid almost $300 to attend so I feel lucky. They also do not provide a lot of food! Just enough to keep people focused - lots of coffee all day though.
My house is settling down - I installed one of the doors and it took me about an hour, mostly the measuring and fiddling around. Noticed that the label was marked "parrot room" - even though the handy man said he couldn't figure out which door belonged to which room! Just one more thing to aggravate me about him! Honestly, he must have been drunk the whole time he worked on my stuff. Roomie bought a carpet and we moved some seating around - she has some pictures to hang, I have some shelves she can put knick-knacks on - we are shooting for having the place ready for her birthday party on November 21 - not everything will be done, but I hope to have some painting done, and all the doors in, now that I know that I definitely can get those done by myself!
Watching what I eat - I did avoid ordering a pizza for tonight - anyone who knows Santarpio's in East Boston knows it was a heroic gesture!
And Roomie has agreed to take the Halloween candy to work with her because we are incapable of resisting it!
