Trying, today to make up for yesterday, while breakfast and lunch were really good, I went out to eat with a friend to our favorite brewpub where my favorite thing to get there is there black bean burger (I'm not much for the traditional ground beef patty hamburger) they have a lot of vegiterian options there which is nice as it increases the variety of food, but I'm not sure its much healthier--its still restaurant food. and of course along with dinner a wonderful pint. It was great, but diet de-railing. But back again today. When I stick with the updates on this site I do pretty well, it's when I don't record my food I let it slide.

Things I have learned so far from eating clean, most of which is pretty good diet common sense but the book has offered some very good tips and strategies (if taken with the understanding that you may not be able to do it with the same vigor as the author, but nonethless offers great advice for changes to make to work into your own lifestyle. Here are some of the ideas I have learned:

--Plan ahead! especially if you are busy prepare meals or parts of meals ahead of time so you can just grab them out of the fridge. Make as easy on yourself at the time of consumption that you can so it is easy to stick with it!
--Be smart about whats in your food! knowledge is power--and the only thing that will help you lose weight
--whenever make substitutions for the leanest proteins you can use (chicken, beans, lentils). and eat a normal serving along with lots of fresh fruits and veggies
--the less processed the food the better! --it takes longer and more energy for your body to breakdown.
--and it gives specific amount ballparks to eat (protein=palm of your hand, one handful of fruit, two handfuls of veggies...)
--eat oatmeal, and low sugar nonfat yogurt!

Those were some of the things that I learned. To implement them this weekend I plan to go to the grocery store (I need to anyway) buy brown rice, and veggies, I plan to try egg beaters to get the protein without the fats of normal eggs, and fruit, I plan to cut up veggies and fruit into serving sizes so i can grab them on my way to work in the morning as well as cook up chicken and rice to have ready for meals.

I found this book ("The Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno) very informative and helpful, but did have to keep a realistic view of how to incorporate things into my lifestyle as I would never be able to follow her rules word for word, but feel empowered by the information I can use to make my lifestyle heathier!

I wish all of you the best!!
