kmunson's Journal, 24 Jun 13

OK I have been depressed and not feeling this at all lately. I feel a smidge better this morning when the scale started in the right direction. I didn't record my peak weight after the sunburn. It got up to 279 pounds again. That is 7 lbs up from the low I had achieved. Right now I am still 3 lbs up...but a move down seems better than the alternative.
The sunburn is on the downhill slide on the 7th day. I look like a shedding snake on my back. If I can get this to heal maybe then I can start over.
Yesterday I gave myself the day to eat what I wanted. I ate an entire box of dark chocolate covered raisins. I loved them and I don't care...sometimes a person just needs chocolate. My hubby was mad that I did not leave some for him. You snooze you lose. Then add to that a bunch of salted peanuts. He had made me mad by a comment he made about me being bitchy for the last two weeks. Even my daughter came to my rescue on that one. She said that he has been the one that has been crabby. That comment hurt because I have been doing my best under stress to keep it together. I thought I had been fine the last month considering.
My basement has water in it...in the room my son sleeps in and the laundry. We have had over 4.5" of rain in just 54 hours. That really makes me crabby. Now I wonder if my garden seeds have been washed away. The garden that I got severely sunburned planting. More rain forecasted for the next two days. We have been dry for 24 hours at this point.
Calgon take me away!

It does make a difference when our scales want to inch forward. i had radiation on my thyroid in feb and the scales just keep going up. I try every morning and by dark I'm tired and the effort is gone. So keep trying and some day we will get it right.

Tonya, sometimes it is better when you know that there is a medical reason for what you are going through. For you...anything with the thyroid will after your weight. My doctor checked that for me when the scales were going up and no explainable reason. At least I know that my body was trying to heal my sunburn so it was holding onto every drop of water possible. If I can get through the sunburn...it should continue in the same direction.

I have to just do without food to lose any weight. If i do the every four hour deal I gain. My son who also had had radiation for his thyroid only eats 1 meal a day to maintain his weight. Looks like I'm gonna have to join him.

Tonya, try changing what you eat for those meals. Eat fruit or veggies in measured amounts every little bit. Then you do not shut down your metabolism by starving your body. If you do not eat enough calories your body will hold onto every morsel you eat. My hubby drives a rural mail route and takes turns eating different things while he drives. Some days it is hard boiled eggs. He eats one every hour or two. He has lost 60 lbs since last fall. Other days he takes along carrots or bananas. Whatever foods are the most portable. He just never lets himself go without something in his stomach. His metabolism is incredibly fast by doing this. Seems backwards...but if you don't eat enough you do not lose weight. It is what you eat that makes the difference. I am a very picky eater...so I can't eat what he does. If I did I am convinced I would lose massive weight. Also check in with your doctor about your weight issues since you had the thyroid procedure. There may be a medicine that you need to regulate your thyroid as well.

Plus side for me...water is receding both in my basement and in me. I am down another 2 lbs this morning from yesterday and the water level is dropping in my basement also...good day so far!

Glad for you and your basement. I live high above the river enough that we have no flooding.

we live on a hill as well...just sometimes the water table gets too high and then I deal with water in my basement. If I could get it to flow down the hill I would...4.5" of rain in less than 54 hours is just too much though.

Even though they open the dams here on the rivers sometimes it doesn't help. Now to get down there and clean, whew girl i feel for ya.
