I had a moment today I'm not proud of. The only way I can come to grips with it is write it down. I have tried very hard to stay raw vegan for the past 2 weeks. I was eating my lunch (a healthy salad) today and a group of co-workers ordered KFC. One of them said as they left the room that there was a piece of chicken and a few spoonfulls of mashed potatoes and gravy left if I was interested. I declined, and continued talking with a girl I eat lunch with regularly. My friend went back to work 5 minutes before I did, and I was left alone with the KFC. ALONE. And I ate the mashed potatoes and gravy... and the breading off the chicken... and I stood there, like a wild animal that just dove into the gut of its prey, fingers dripping in oil, gravy on my breath, and I quickly threw the empty containers and chicken away and felt like crying. I felt ashamed, and I was scared someone was going to catch me. So, I just wanted to share my struggle today. It wasn't pretty. I understand we are all human, and I knew this was going to be hard. I just felt a little piece of me break today. I let myself down miserably.

Don't be so hard on yourself. It's only been 2 weeks and you've done exceptionally well up to this point. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off and try again. It wasn't as bad as you could have done with more available. You've got this.. you can do it!! Be proud of what you've accomplished to this point and move forward. Don't look back. HUGS

You're doing great. You made a choice, just as we all do from time to time, and that's okay. Onwards! I know I couldn't do a raw vegan diet like you are -- you've got hutzpa! :-)

Your lunchtime trip back into the world of the carnivores did not set you back to square one. For one thing, the length of time you commit to being a raw vegan isn't part of the challenge; its just a helpful tool to mark your progress. Also, if you've been raw vegan for two weeks that chicken and mash potatoes is going to go right through you...so it kinda doesn't even count. You're okay...just keep going!
