ChubbyMackTruckLady's Journal, 16 Jan 20

I am trying very hard to stay focused on walking, drinking water and staying aware of my calorie count daily. You all will notice that I have BAD days where I do drink beer. I am caregiver for my Mom and Dad and an elderly friend Ethel that is 98. My Dad is 90 and still lives alone but that may have to change soon as he is not getting around as well as I would like to see. My Mom and Ethel are in the same nursing home. Mom has later end stage's of Alzheimer's and Ethel is no longer able to walk on her own but is able to remember anything and everything. They have been friends for over 60 years so it is a blessing to have them living in the same facility. It does take a toll on me as I visit them 3 days a week and some days are harder than others when my Mom is not having a good day. Usually those are the days that I may drink beer. It's my vice but I am getting better! Seeing the scales go down really helps encourage me to only have a few! I have a lot on my plate and should be a bean pole by now but I think the stress is not helping me lose the weight! Baby steps and forge on!

I know your situation well, I cared for my g.mom as she went through the same journey. Take care of you so you can be there for them. At times situations can be overwhelming and if you don't laugh you will cry.

All things in moderation! You are amazing and should be able to enjoy a beer now and then. Don't call it bad, call it indulging, remove the negatives in regards to what you consume. If you have a little wiggle room for beer, then have the beer, I make room for wine, and chocolate. Remember that you are creating healthy habits, and being able to indulge now and then is healthy.
