Back from the family reunion. I have not done any meal planning or recording of my foods since Saturday. I have had little control over what foods were put on the table for 3 days. I have not seen a scale. I have felt kind of lost.

I didn't overeat in huge quantities, acutally ate reasonable amounts of most things but in my mind some things were just not good choices for me. Entirely too much sugar and not nearly enough vegetables! I do know I have overdone the salt so it will so my weight will be high when I get on the scale tomorrow. I don't know how long it takes my body to adjust the sodium thing.

I feel like I will be starting all over with lots of new enthusiasm and determination to continue in changing to a healthier lifestyle and way of eating. I will feel good being back in control of what food is available. I really missed my elliptical!! I am headed that way now before I head for bed.

We always got miss some days with FS or even looking on our food for a reason..However, it is not the end of it. complete what you reached of weight from tomorrow & enter your food, and so on. If you are afraid of looking on scale, leave it for 1 week! So, you do not get depressed. If not, check your weight then, it may decreased, too. Just try not to think that much about what you ate last days, think about losing weight in the coming up days ;) Best Wishes!

I was wondering where you had gone, DD. Wow, family reunion. Your family must be like mine -- lots of casseroles and desserts. Yikes! But you will recover!

Hey, good to see you're back! Sounds like you have the PERFECT attitude for getting right back into the swing of things. That's usually the most difficult thing for me after a few days away and it strikes fear in my heart! It took SO LONG to get to this point, both physically and emotionally that I hate it when I am out of my environment/routine for more than a day or two. You'll do great with that attitude. And drink lots and lots and LOTS of water to help flush out the sodium and the toxins from some of the foods that were "questionable" as far as healthy choices go.

Even if you didn't follow things exactly, at least you were more aware of what your choices should be. Just get back with the program and you'll do fine.

Thanks all. I am looking at it as an experiment in maintenance. I am so determined to keep it off this time that maintenance is always in my thoughts. I have a chart made up already with limits of what I will allow myself for fluctuation and when I will make diet changes to correct for gain. So this past week is just an exercise in real life maintenance. When I am at home and totally in control of what food is purchased and prepared it is not difficult. The difficulty in living within someone else's choices for me. (Do I sound like a rebelious teen?) Anyway, real life, if you are at all social, is full of times when you are not the one making those decisions, when they pile up day after day, you have to make adjustments to get back to where you want to be. So I will enjoy the best of both worlds. When with family and friends I will just enjoy and stay in control of what I can. I will repair the damage when I am at home with wonderful memories of good times with family and friends. I will be able to maintain this time, I know I will.

I'm in the same boat as you - was on a 2 week vacation on the East coast with not a lot of control as to what was available. But I was aware that I was not going to be able to eat healthy all the time, and to be honest, I didn't want to! I didn't want that stress, but I was aware of what I was eating and ate well when I could. I just hoped to not gain more than 5 lbs! I'm sure it feels good to be back on track again. No regrets....we all make the choices, we just need to move forward and continue with what we were doing now that we are in control again.
