I don't know what is up today-I am so hungry! I think I will switch back to bacon and eggs for breakfast tomorrow-I don't usualy get hungry before lunch when I have that.

Sounds like you could go for some more fat. I've tried kicking my daily bacon habit and I've noticed I'm hungry again before lunch.

When I did Atkins 7-8 years ago and was very sucessful, I never counted calories. I would go to the cafeteria every morning and have a 3-egg and cheese omelet with a side of bacon (4 large thick slices). This time I seem to be obsessed with calories-which has its merits but probably more because I came here after a year of doing the Alli diet where you count fat and calories. I am hungry and shouldn't be...sounds like time for re-re-re-evaluation lol

Amy, I am the same way. I am questioning my attempts at lowering my cals because it's not helping me at all! When I did Atkins (years ago) I only counted the carbs (in my head) and never thought twice about anything else. Maybe it's time we just go back to the old way. Eat what you want, when you want and just check your carbs only. Try doing it the same way as you did before. It worked then, it can work again.

I havent eaten bacon in years. hey, its GOOD! :-) I think worrying about carbs AND calories to that extent is just too much...I count my carbs and eat when Im hungry, just being careful not to gorge myself--but you know Im really finding the richer REALer foods to be much more satisfying. I dont think Im about to have a bacon binge! Amy those omlettes/bacon breakfasts sound good!

OK I just spent my entire lunch hour reading calorie posts on the Atkins site. I am convinced now that if I follow the plan, my apetite will take care of itself and I should not have to count calories. Rebecca Latham is a short person(her description)maybe 5 ft or less? eating 2,000 cals a day and was losing weight without any exercise. I am eating 1500-1600, am hungry, not exercising and I either maintain or gain. The posts I read explained (and I am not quoting) that when you burn fat your metabolism reves up and thus you burn more than you can log on this site...I mean they don't have an exercise category for sitting on the couch burning fat LOL Everyone is different and will burn fat at different rates so the calorie defeicits on this site (IMHO) are not one size fits all. I for one am going to stop stressing daily and go back to what I know worked before...with the exception that this time I will contiinue to log my food. When I did Atlkins before I did it all 'in my head'.

Good plan, Amy!! I am just worrying about the carbs,not the cals, and seem to be doing alright. I set my limit at 2000 and if it goes over, as long as I am within my carb range, then I don't fret about it.

I fret entirely too much Andrea, and I think that hinders my weight loss, so I am giving into the plan...NOT giving UP the plan :)

Amy, sometimes I think we over-think, over-analyze, over-everything to do with our diets. The old adage "If ain't broke don't fix it", comes to mind when it comes to Atkins and me. I do the old style, 20 grams total. Stay under 2000 cals a day, and do my walking! Easy and it seems to work. At least for now! I eat when I am hungry, and I try to grab something that is low carb or no carb. :D

Maybe this discussion will help me too. I have been worrying about my calories and feeling hungry lately too. Maybe I need to eat more not less. I'll experiment but not until I get under that magic 200 mark. Andrea
