Mixolidia's Journal, 14 Aug 19

Update. Been in hospital today and got seen by the specialist. Good news, my hormones are almost back to normal and it is expected I will recover. I am still very dizzy. There is a certain risk of hypothyroidism, but not that it must necesarily happen (I really hope not! don't want to put all the weight back), so must continue having regular blood tests.
Doing a normal healthy balanced diet these days, not trying to loose, but aiming not to gain.
Thank you so much to all of you who send their best wishes! xxxx

Hi there, just came across your journal and glad to see your health is on the mend. I can see that you tried/are doing the Keto diet - were your hormone issues brought on by Keto? I’m interested in this diet but it would be good to know if there are risks such as this.. thanks in advance x

Hi ozelliex, no, it had nothing to do with keto, but I think that taking supplements did not help, and after a month of Keto I had palpitaitions. I believe that with keto there is a risk of lack of electrolites and it's important to complete the diet with potasium supplements. My thyroytoxicosis has been caused by a virus, so in the end nothing to do with it. However, I would reccomend a low in carbs diet, rather than pushing the body into ketosis, but if you want to try, ask your doctor first.

However, ozelliex, if you are as you say in your profile, only 48kgs, do you really want to loose more weight? You must be really slim by now.

Thanks for your response Mixolodia and for sharing your experience. I think you’re right in that a low carb approach might be best for now. I struggled with my weight for a long time and I guess I just hate the thought of putting it back on again. Ozelx

@ozelliex low carb sounds good enough and healthy, without the potential risks of keto, especially if you just want to keep in your weight. :)
