Went to the doctor with my husband and it was totally unsatisfactory. The doctor was completely inattentive, got pulled out of the room in the middle of my husband's exam to talk to another patient and did not have the info. from my husband's previous ER visits. So she told him to come back in two weeks. She was hesitant to think it could be MS because it is so much more common in women but my husband has 10-11 symptoms that match MS and none that don't match it. I really want her to order a MRI and a spinal tap to rule it in or out. Apparently 25% of early MS cases cannot be diagnosed by the MRI alone. Also they use a test called an evoked potential to check for MS - I think it checks nerve conduction. It is important to diagnose it right away because proper treatment can make delay future episodes. On top of all this medical stuff I have had a toothache or rather two toothaches for four days. I go to the dentist tomorrow to get these cavities filled. My food was off a bit today because I felt like fainting repeatedly this morning and I drank some cranberry juice because I wasn't sure if my blood sugar was low. Well I found out it was low blood pressure instead. Meanwhile I had had over 50 carbs already including the juice.
The doctor was supposed to call and let me know whether to stop my blood pressure meds but the nurse didn't call me. My blood pressure is still low and I just took a pain pill for my teeth and my night meds. I hope my blood pressure doesn't go too low tonight. I'll be glad to get the dentist over with. My food was OK until I drank the cranberry juice today. I will just have fewer carbs tomorrow.

I'm so sorry you had the experience you did at the doctor's office today. Reminded me of something similar that occurred when I took my father for one of his visits. Getting competent medical care/advice shouldn't seem like going to war, but sometimes it's a real battle to get what you need! Get a good night's rest. Tomorrow is a blank slate!!!

I am praying for you and your hubby. Good luck with the dentist, and if this dr wasn't satisfactory find a new one who is. Be assertive, this is your husband's health and your peace of mind. If nothing else, pitch a hissy fit and make this dr do the tests now!

I agree with restlesshope, that was yesterday, this is today. Sorry to hear about your doctor. I think I would consider getting a different doctor too! The right one can make all the difference.

Low blood pressure can make you feel yuck. Don't you just hate that about your husband's doctor? It is not cheap to go to the dr to begin with so you expect them to have it all together when you do go. I will be praying for the both of you.

I know it sucks, but docs don't often just order tests like an MRI and a spinal tap. He should have referred your husband to a specialist, to the neurologist, at the very least. My sister had to wait for approval and have her doctor deal with her insurance company for approval for her recent MRI since she'd had a previous one to look for MS. BUT...that previous MRI was TEN years prior! Ridiculous. I think it sucks that insurance companies are in charge of our health - that they somehow feel they have the medical knowledge necessary to determine what tests we should have and when! As for the doctor not being attentive, can you change docs? Or call his office and request a referral to a neurologist? As much as doctors try to cover their own a**es, you'd think that wouldn't be a problem.
