Pretty soon will be my 5th anniversary on Fat Secret. Have I been successful at achieving my weight loss goal? No. Did I learn things along the way? Yes, of course.

Some comments were made on here the other day that those who have been on here 5-10 years without success are not good role models for weight loss, they don't know what they are talking about, they are not people you should take advise from.

I beg to differ. I find that statement rather judgmental, critical, and plain rude. Many people who have failed over and over never give up. That is a quality to admire right there. I have done much research into food addiction, eating, nutrition, and exercise. I have practiced mindfulness, DBT exercises, gone to counseling, and exercised 3x per week with weights.

I have done everything I can think of to get this monkey off my back. I continue to fail in achieving my ultimate weight-loss goal, but I continue to try. I am a 5 year loser, but I am no way a failure.

So if I am not a good person to help others on this site, so be it. But I feel I make a good cheerleader for a portion of the this site's population and I will continue to do so even if I continue to fail.

@Ny_shelly. Listen to the GOOD advice. Let the rest go in one ear and out the other. Nobody KNOWS you, or the struggles you've been through. Once, I saw a lady who weighed 400 pounds. I thought LOTS of negative thoughts about her, and about what a failure she must be. Then, I found out that she had just come down from being over SIX HUNDRED pounds! None of should ever judge another!

Once, when I was going to Weight Watchers, the leader said "the only difference between weight loss and no weight loss is the the person who loses weight never gives up". I have been on and off this site for many years. I feel it is a great site to keep me honest. I always come back when I need support and structure. I think it's a great site and am thankful for all comments.
