Multiplicity1's Journal, 31 May 10

I have had a very busy day today. I have worked on my house, done some spiritual work, done affirmations, gone for a 45 minute walk and read a whole book on the subject of prosperity thinking. The book was very interesting so I thought I would share some of the ideas with you. The title of the book is Miracle Power for Infinite Riches by Joseph Murphy. The author's belief is that all of our minds are part of the Divine Mind. He believes that what we put into our subconscious minds - how we program it - with positive or negative thoughts will determine the course of our lives and that we manifest in our outward life all the things our minds are producing inwardly. He believes that we can program our subconscious mind through affirmations to draw prosperity to us. He says that we draw to ourselves or magnetize things that are the same vibration of energy that we are sending out subconsciously because all things even those that are matter are made up of energy and similar energies are attracted to each other. I will give you an example of one of the author's affirmations (p.117) "I recognize the Source within and I make contact with my thought, and I do give thanks that the gateway to riches is now open wide for me, and God's riches are flowing freely to me, and more and more money is circulating in my life every day. Every day I am growing richer spiritually, mentally, financially and in all ways. Money is God's idea circulating in my life, and there is always a surplus." The author also emphasizes sending out Divine love to oneself and one's fellow man and always wishing prosperity to others. Another affirmation the author writes (p.53) "I forgive myself for harboring negative and destructive thoughts about myself and others and I resolve not to do this any more. When a negative thought comes to me, I will immediately affirm,'God's love fills my soul.' The author gives numerous examples of significant types of abundance occurring in the lives of people who changed the programming of their subconscious minds. The ideas of this author are not the first time I have heard these thoughts expressed. I've come across them in numerous other books and authors but his examples and his affirmations make this book definitely worth reading. It definitely changed my thinking about God wishing prosperity for us. I used to God would somehow be threatened by us becoming too prosperous but Mr. Murphy reminds us how bountiful the universe is that God created. Now I am going to go fill my belly with food and my mind with mindless TV. Hope you have a glorious and prosperous evening!

Hi Andrea, thanks for sharing your experiences from the book. I'm not a religious person (I regard myself as spiritual) although I was brought up a Roman Catholic! Even so I can relate to the affirmations, especially the one about harbouring negative thoughts! Hope you enjoyed your food and TV evening! Chris

Hi Andrea! I really liked the affirmation from p. 53, especially the part about immediately counteracting a negative thought with God's love fills my soul. That's beautiful, and if God's love fills my soul, then there's no more room for the other garbage : ) I love it! And yes, I agree God has given us many, many opportunities, some of which are for wealth. The Bible says it's "the love of" money that leads to evil - not money itself. But again, it is easier to be broken when you're poor, too : ) I heard Billy Graham once talk about a minister he'd met on one of his many missions - one who pastored over extremely poverty ridden people. Billy said to him that he felt bad for him and his flock since they had so little. The other pastor replied, I feel bad for yours, as they have so much. That though has stuck with me and it's something to keep in mind if/when you reach financial freedom. I envision myself there, too! I still say if you can't visualize it, you can't attain it! Hope your day is going well, Andrea!

Indeed, God's bounty is infinite and nothing we take or give can add or subtract from His abundance. IMVHO, it is not the money that drawns us away from God, it is how we think of it and how we use it. If being rich makes us forget God's favour upon us, then it is not worth it, but if it makes us grateful, mindful and helpful for others in need, then it is beneficial by all means. Anyway, visualizations help us train our minds and keep us focused. I am really trying to do that and avoiding sources of negativity in my life as well. It is working fine so far :) Keep working, Andrea, you are doing so well :)
