I found it to be high. It said I should consume 1900 calories per day. But, as a rule of thumb, it is more important to eat smarter. Food combinations are important. I follow David Zinczenko's, "The Super Metabolism Diet." It combines proper diet and exercise.

I agree, its high. mine was 2000. that might be ok if I wanted to maintain that current weight, or was training for triathalons.

I hate dieting

I think it runs a bit high - but I only use it as a guide. I plan my meals and intake based on my activity.

Absolute rubbish; vastly overestimates. Start with 9 kcals per pound of target scale weight. 1,260 kcal (140 X 9) to start. Titrate calories down, lift heavy weights, and add cardio, in that order, to keep the scale moving and/or accellerate fat loss.

I think mine was much too high also. I also think that it really depends on the person and you'll find your sweet spot where you lose and where you maintain. If you're losing at 1700 and feeling good, then I'd stick with it.

I used it at the lowest activity level and went from there. that gives me a basic number which is realistic. It works pretty close to Jimmiepop's number. 1125 calories for 9 x 125 target. Since my bike monitors my calories burned I use that to input my exercise daily and I cut the calorie burned number fat secret gives me for my resistance work in half. I have another app that gives me a far lower more realistic number. One day I will get one of those gadgets to monitor my exercise level.
