Steven Anthony's Journal, 03 Jul 18

Day 75 of my 90-day program was just awesome. I woke up feeling great, had coffee and bible study with my mom, headed out the door and walked 5 miles. Got to work and had a busy day, went by so quick. I ate my one meal and plenty of coffee. On the way home, I walked 1 mile to kill my appetite. When I got home I thought I was hungry, drank some water and it passed. Didn't even eat all my lunch.

I have been thinking about a carb-fest when my 90-day program is over. Just for one meal, or one whole day. But....When I think about what to eat, my cravings are for stuff that will provide me with absolutely no nutrition. It also will NOT help my goals. So, why do it? I thought "I could eat cake and ice cream, or pizza, or even just some sourdough bread (my favorite) but what would I actually get out of it?"

I realize after working on this Fatsecret that food needs to mean something to me, at least more than just feeding the greedy lust for junk I have always nipping at my heals. So, I'm thinking of more healthy options. There are some high carb veggies I've been missing. Maybe a stir fry with veggies and chicken with a side of brown rice?

I want more for myself in terms of health and happiness than junk food can provide. WOW, this is a new attitude about food than I have had in the past. Well, have a great day everyone! Have a happy and safe 4th of July.

I'm looking at food as fuel which will help me get where I want to, not an end in itself.

I know how you feel. My thoughts on food have changed a lot in the past 3 months.

I had moments where I though that it would be nice to try some carbs again. These thoughts vanished as wonderful days like you're having is the new 'drug'

What a great post! Sometimes my "treat" is having fresh sushi WITH the rice (which I seldom eat) or a baked potato once in the while...or some higher carb fruit like pineapple or mango! Still healthy but feels like treats!

Great post! I like your perspective.

I like your approach. I think it's very important to give yourself permission to eat whatever you want. That permission gives you the space to start considering different choices. Good luck!

@adefwebserver, I've noticed a change in your strategy lately and it's so cool you are always evaluating for ways to be more successful. It's very motivating. I know some do not understand fasting, but for those of us who use this tool, we can testify to it's many benefits. Fasting, when done correctly, is totally safe for most people, but it's hard and uncomfortable. So glad for you!

@Diddlee, yes, I agree with you that our success is a great motivator for continuing. After all, we want to be healthy first, right?

@Steven Anthony - Thank you for the support! I REALLY helps me a lot! I think fasting is like spirituality. Each person has their own personal journey, yet at many points of the way we converge and meet up :)
