Hi guys,
Can anyone help with a question?? Since all our LAWL centres here in Australia have closed down, I can't exactly ask our cousellors.

So... I'm not sure if you have a product called Metamucil in the States, it's a fibre supplement powder, you mix with water. It also comes in capsule form.

Well I had to start taking it to lower my Cholesterol, but since I've been on it, I've gained between 1.5-2kgs (that's about 4lbs)

My question is, am I supposed to count this in my daily food intake, if so, as what a starch or what?? it's main ingredient is psylium husk powder & aspartame.????

I'm not really sure if this is the reason for my weight gain, but I haven't really been that bad...

Yes we have that in US. BUT, why would you take that if your weight is up from it?? STOP it for a few days and see what happens. I suggest to eat a fiber cereal, which will make you go to the bathroom and take off the lbs.????Makes more sense to me? Why did they close down??wow!!! We have them here too, but, too much ######@@@!!!!%%%$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to go! Let me know what you do about the metamucial,ok? Good Luck!

Hi mygranners, Thanks for the reply. Like I said I'm not sure if it is the reason for my weight gain, it just seems to have coincided.I have actually decided to stop taking it for a while, so today was my first day without. I have also started adding unprocessed bran to my cereal. like I said the main reason for taking metamucil was to lower the cholesterol not to go to bathroom!! As to why they shut down, we haven't really been given a satsfactory reason, we believe the owner took off with the money, & things shut down when the bills didn't get paid. Thanks for adding me to your buddy list, I will let you know how things go. Be good

Beanie, I have been told two different things. Each dosage of fiber is considered a starch. Then another counselor said that it didn't count as anything. So my best suggestion is that you make the decision that is right for you. Good luck.

I took fiber for a while as well and did not count it. I think at first it did not help with the loss, but I did not take tons of it. Now with the new plan I don't seem to need it as much it has way more fiber in the diet. I chose more fibrous foods. For the cholesterol problem, try eating oatmeal, which is on the plan. Oatmeal totally took care of my dad's cholesterol problem. It works wonders
