I was working out in front of the gym mirror and thought "ack, I have old lady arms!" - need to get a focused upper body routine! I found a website with a four-day upper body plan, with weights and machines, different upper-body muscle groups each day, so I am going to try that.
Been losing inches, but of course, chest and back, calves and arms, not butt or stomach or thighs yet! Still obvious to me that I have at least 20 more pounds to lose. I have the red denim for 4th of July - need to be around 155 to get into them comfortably but the way I am going I won't make it, so recalibrating. They fit, but only if I don't have to go up or down the stairs.
Packing tonight and going to Maine Saturday into Sunday. Lots of relaxing ahead, and many food choices. I find that I really do love going out, and eating different things, but having the calorie count in my head can be a help in deciding how much to eat. I am one of those people who can stop in the middle of a great dish and set it aside for later - one of the two-marshmallows-later kind of person. I don't know if I grew up that way, but recently saw an interview with the guy who created the Marshmallow Test, wherein he said that the self-control to wait for the two marshmallows can be learned. That being given the training to to see a bigger picture actually changes the long-term outcome of children who choose the immediate (one) marshmallow. Mind you, I did just eat 6 baklava over the weekend when I thought I would be having one a night for 6 nights, but still. I am going to pretend I can forego the rewards and stick to getting more of what I want by eating according to my plan and exercising.
Went to the dance last night, and that was great. I don't follow the bands but apparently the one that played last night was popular. There were 4 lines of dancers when there usually are only 3. That, and the caller is immensely popular also. I am in this photo with my back to the camera, to the right - grey dress, dancing with the gent in the red shirt and black hat.
Ok, back to work for me. Happy Friday!
