Steven Anthony's Journal, 06 Jun 18

Day 51 of my 90-day program was awesome. This is the best I've felt all along and after fasting the weekend, no lie, it feels good to eat. Food tastes so much better, although you would think that's not such a good thing, I already like food too much. I woke up at dawn with plenty of energy. My walk was amazing and felt good to have such energy. There were many people walking in the park and I was happy to see everyone.

Now, I'm getting ready for this weekends fast. I have learned over the last few weeks that I must be mentally prepared to fast 72 hrs. I have to be ready for someone to trigger me by preparing food, or eating chocolate and leaving the wrappers by my chair, or inviting me to lunch. Each of these things has been a challenge and I didn't handle some of them very well. There is a certain freedom in fasting because I don't have to measure, plan, shop, cook, cleanup, or feel bad about bad choices. But, it's hard, no doubt.

Progress is slow. I ate at maintenance calorie levels the last two days. Not sure I will lose any weight this week. I have to pay close attention. Have a great day everyone! Love to see all your progress.

Nice work. You're getting in a groove. I'm thinking about pushing my next fast to 64:8 from my typical 40:8. How do you set up your weekend fast? I was thinking dinner Thursday through dinner Sunday. And you do daily cardio while you are fasting, correct?

Can you give me some information about the fast? NO food? No water? How long? Thank you so much By the way, you’re doing great!

Fasting is no food. You need to stay hydrated, you can’t live without water.

I might suggest that you try intermittent fasting at first rather than diving into a 72 hour fast. Baby steps 👶

Hi everyone, this is what I do. The first 24 hrs is no food, no water, that's called a dry fast. Research shows that a 24 hr dry fast is equal to 72 hr water only fast in terms of detoxification. Then, the next 48 hours I add water, coffee, and herbal tea (dandelion is good for liver flush) and a cup of bullion if needed. I also add some electrolytes on the water days. This is how my fast is set up: I eat breakfast on Friday morning before 11:00 then begin. I have coffee after 24 hrs or so on Sat. morning and drink water as much as I can. I have tea or no calorie bullion as the mood strikes me. I eat after 11:00 on Monday morning. While fasting I walk my usual 5 miles if I want to. For sure I walk on Monday at the end of the fast before eating. I usually walk Sat morning, but not always. Sometimes I do small projects of work around the house on Sun morning. The reason I set it this way is I can't fast too long at work. I need the peace and quite to mentally have the strength to say no to food. Sometimes I have to tell myself "no" every few minutes, but I only really get hungry on Sunday afternoon so I just suffer until I go to sleep. I'm never hungry in the morning, so Monday I can wait to eat until after 11:00.

you are doing a great job, I am not doing good with my intermittent fasting 16/8 every day, I was doing OMAD but lately I find it really hard. I love food too haha

@Marshakanady, lol Crumbcake hates to fast, he just goes to sleep and says "wake me up when it's over" :) Thanks....you too!

Keilil_4, thank you The thing about intermittent fasting, do it when you can. Start small and make only incremental challenges. When you need a detox, nothing is better than fasting. Thanks again!

I totally understand, but I wish you were able to enjoy your fasts :( Do you have to fast at all?

@Adwfwebserver, I'm going to try a longer fast, just not sure when.

A longer fast may help you get to the point I get where I feel 'euphoric' :) However, if it doesn't, it is ok if fasting just doesn't agree with you :) You have other things that seem to work for you :)
