Establishment of Weight-Loss Milestones.

297.5 lbs. (March 3, 2008): The 30 pound mark. If I lose 30 lbs., it means I am really serious about losing a lot of weight. Also, it will be the first time I weigh less than 300 lbs in approximately 5 years. Only 7.5 lbs to go before reaching this milestone.

280 lbs. (April 14, 2008): Amount I weighed in graduate school (more than 20 years ago) before going on a diet on which I lost 40 lbs. Hit a set point at 240 that I was defeated by. Determined not to lose a battle to a set point again. Also, amount I approximately weighed last time I went on a serious diet (8 years ago) when I also reached 240 lbs. and gave up trying to lose more after reaching a stubborn set point. After that, I gained all the weight back plus 47.5 lbs. Ugh!

240 lbs.(July 14, 2008): The enemy for the reasons stated above. Also, the lowest amount I can remember weighing at any time since college. Will be a victory to reach this weight, but also will mark the time that I morph into the TERMINATOR!

210 lbs. (September 22, 2008): My goal. Actually, I plan to end up a few pounds below this amount, but never exceed it again. As far as I can remember, this was what I weighed when I was born, and what I plan to weigh when I die. 100 years from now, of course.

Remember that most people who are losing weight will experience the occasional plateau. If you get stuck at 240 again, don't give up. Instead stick to the plan, make sure that you aren't accidentally eating more carbs than you thought, and try mixing up your exercise plan a bit. Sometimes our bodies need to pause for a few weeks in this process and then will resume weight loss. Some folks get really frustrated and give up when they aren't seeing losses every week. It really helps if you are dedicated to being low carb for life and adjusting your eating habits as such. If you go back to your old eating habits once you reach your goal you will gain back the weight, since eating that way made you heavy in the first place. Having the right attitude is the single most important thing towards success on your weight loss journey. Good luck!!
