HELP!! I really need some advice. I have a significant amount of weight to lose and need to do it quick so I can have heart surgery. I have been doing slimming clubs for years that never work, but never tried calorie counting. This app has calculated the amount of calories I need in a day to lose weight. Do you all find the calculator correct? I’m eating the right foods and cutting out carbs and sugar . I’ve also been eating a lot less than it recommends. I need to know if these figures are correct. I’m running out of time 😬

I find the figures on here ridiculous. Most eat between 1000 and 1600 calories. Keto diet has helped lots of people lose weight and quite quickly. (It's basically one of the low carb high fat diets.)

The RDI calculated here is very high to my mind. Presumably your Doctor has offered some ideas for weight loss since it’s for surgery - have you asked what they think about Dr Michael Moseley’s Blood Sugar Diet? The book is well worth a read and might be what you need but it does recommend getting your Doctor onside first. All the best with losing the weight you need to and I hope the surgery goes well.

Yes. I am basically following the blood sugar diet but I can not survive on 800 calories a day. I’ve been aiming at 1000, but gone slightly over most days, never more than 1400 though. It’s only been a few days so I will see how it goes and take it from there. This says I should have 2000 a day. I thought it was way too high!

That sounds like a great idea. Is that on Facebook?

You say you “cannot survive on 800 calories a day” but then you say “It’s only been a few days” Have you tried? Are you truly in the right place mentally to lose the weight? Having your head in the right place and being determined is the biggest part of the battle. Focus on what it means to lose then ask yourself each time you want to go against your regime “is it worth missing out on <focus>?” Wishing you every success and when you need encouragement, there’s loads here and I am too 👍🏻
