Dad passed away after lunch yesterday. I was amazed at the silence. It shocked me.
I derailed a little last night and ordered pizza for the family, but I have too much to focus on to really care. It will be a tough few days followed by a complete shift in what my life looks like. I have taken care of my parents for so long that their deaths leave a void. An odd opening in my weekly schedule.
I will plan on doing things with my children that involve an entire weekend. I have so rarely done that in the last decade - it will be odd, but something we all need. Normal. Or a "new" normal. It is my last year with them, too, so I need to take advantage.
