dyerseve726's Journal, 06 Nov 21

Hey everyone. I'm alive! Thank goodness. It was a tough week. I went to the ER on Thursday with heart palpitations. Spent 8 hours there and heart rate kept climbing to 140+ and then back down and up again. Two EKGs, chest Xray, CT scan, blood and urinalysis later, and they couldn't find anything wrong with me. They gave me a beta blocker to get my heart rate down and strapped a heart monitor to me for the next two weeks. I'll be seeing a cardiologist next month. I took the blockers for a couple days before I had a terrible asthma attack brought on by the meds. Apparently they can make Albuterol inhalers ineffective. So I had another scary night last night until the pill wore off and I could breathe again. On the recommendation of my doctor, I also quit taking the Prozac and I seem to be getting a little better every day. I think my weight loss might be attributed to "prozac diarrhea", as they call it. I'm up like two pounds through all that sickness and been off the prozac for 3 days. I also think the heart palpitations were a bad reaction to the prozac. Not sure if it was just nonstop panic or if it caused it physically, but I know I won't be taking an SSRI again. No thank you.

Thanks for everyone's support while I was away. I appreciate it. I haven't been tracking my calories because it was low on my priority list while I thought I was dying 😂 I actually look a little bigger than before my hospital stay, despite the bad haircut they gave me, lol.

Feel better soon! It’s amazing some of the more rare side effects common meds like ssris can have.

Glad you’re doing better. I had the same one like you but they had to monitor my low heart rate. Let’s just say I get calls from them to see if I am alive lol

I hope they find out what's going on. My dad and brother both had atrial fib which landed them in the ICU several times - it's scary! So keep listening to your body and taking care of yourself.

I sincerely hope you will be well soon. My son had severe heart palpitations from extreme stress at work. He left that job, and the heart palpitations stopped.

OMG - I do not know you but I am thankful that you are alive - By G-d man - who cares about calories - like who cares? - at least you can joke about the haircut - but still. You take it easy for a few days - do you have any person to help you out? You be still and rest and feed yourself. Wishing you well.

@jergens - the calorie counting is to make sure I'm getting enough to survive, not to lose weight, so it still is important for me right now. I have an eating disorder where I somewhat unknowingly starved myself for several years. I have an unhealthy relationship with food and I'm trying to be friends with it again :)

Thanks everyone! Just spending the day eating handfuls of Cheerios, sipping Pedialyte, and sleeping. That stuff is gross, but I was feeling super dehydrated despite high water intake. I wasn't getting enough electrolytes to keep up with the sweating and bathroom activity. On day 4 without prozac and that is the typical half life of the drug. Feels like I have the flu.

Good luck with the beta blockers. I am on them permanently and some days they work great and others not so much.

So glad you are OK! Take it easy and don't stress on the calories. You have bigger fish to fry right now.

So glad to hear you're recovering! That sounds terrifying. On a lighter note, now your chest hair looks like the bat signal 🦇🦇🦇

I have heart palpitations a lot. Dr said from my thyroid medication. I also take 2 medications for my blood pressure. I hope you can find a balance that works for you. there are other anti depression meds your Dr can try.

Sorry about that - The general mistaken impression was that you are trying to lose weight --- but the opposite is true. Harsh - so eat as much as you possibly can - hoping everything is fine. That is all frightening for the people who follow you - I cannot imagine how frightening it must be for you. Sounds like you got it figured out. Heal.
