Losing 0.6 kg a Week
11 November 2015
I have been maintaining for almost a month now and I feel pretty good. I just finished my fall climbing season and I set some new personal records and enjoyed several great days of perfect autumn climbing weather. I can tell that I have gotten stronger but I am also ready for a break. I am resting 10 days from climbing before starting the winter season, and in that time I will be playing a bit more futsal while resting my arms and hands completely.
I like how seasonal climbing schedules encourage a periodic reflection on goals and the value we gain through participation. The biggest joys this year have come from seeing family and friends enjoy new climbing experiences and reach new milestones. Hopefully more to come in the season ahead.

Gaining 0.0 kg a Week
14 October 2015
I had a three day weekend of climbing and hiking. I ate much more than I have been recently but my activity level was through the roof and I needed the energy.
I am just below my target weight, so now my big focus is on maintaining this weight while building strength, especially for climbing.

Well- I had a big day of exercise yesterday- climbing plus almost 2 hours of futsal; and even with this high activity rate my food consumption was a bit under my target. In general I have been making good progress by running a slight deficit every day, even though my measured weight fluctuates from day to day, I can see evidence of the progress in terms of how my clothes fit and how I look.
The big key to making progress at this stage seems to be staying consistent with running a slight calorie deficit rather than worrying about what the scale says. Even so, I was psyched to see last night after futsal (but before my protein shake) I registered a new low of 158.8. So this morning I was not surprised to see 160.0.
This was my fall goal and it comes just in time for climbing season because I am doing my first trip for performance season at the Red River Gorge this weekend. Hopefully I can feel the difference from ~170 that I was last fall. Along with being stronger my improved strength to weight ought to make the steep routes feel less tiring.

Well, I played futsal for about 2.5 hours last night and had a normal day of food, so I think that drove some short term progress.
