Dear Diary,
Gratitude- This word has come to the forefront of my thoughts for several months. What does it really mean? How can I practice it? Will it enhance my life? I think I have some answers for these nagging questions. My brother and his wife separated last week and it is heart wrenching. He is devastated because he was living with blinders and did not see the problem, his wife is torn because she has silently suffered four years of mental abuse (which my brother now admits happened), and they have a beautiful 6 year old that is left with a world turned upside down. They are trying to work through this and because family support is my degree area they have turned to me for guidance. As of today they are both seeking individual counseling and can speak to each other. God willing they can work this out. Gratitude revelation - I am so grateful and I thank God for my wonderful husband of 31 years. We have worked hard on our marrige, no marriage is a bed of roses but I can honestly say that I love him more today than the day we were married!
Of way less importance- I have a nasty cold and feel like crap today. I'm going to rest and drink hot tea all day (couch potato)because I have a busy week. Meetings and reports M-W and out of town for a conference Th-Fri. No time to be sick!

Dear Diary,
Wow-- What a week. Busy time of year at work. Monday was a holiday, last night I worked until 8:30 (Teen Court), tonight I worked until 7:30, tomorrow I have a conference about 2 hours from home, and Friday is full with meetings. Slow down my world!!
So far I have done well with my eating plan. I have stayed within my carb intake and have not had any mindless eating episodes. On the down side I have not exercised this week. I must find time to schedule exercise. I feel so much better when I walk and work out with my wii. That is a commitment for next week.

Dear Diary,
The end of a great weekend at home. As usual when there is an idol weekend we start a project. We have almost completed the mini-remodeling project in our den. All that is left is to put down the floor. That will be a weekend all to itself! Our youngest is back at college and tomorrow it's back to work. All good things must come to an end. I must concentrate on walking each day. I will get to work early tomorrow so that I can walk uptown before I get busy with other things. Seems like if I do not exercise first thing in the morning it doesn't happen.

Dear Diary,
It's been a great weekend. Our son came home from college for the long weekend and it's been nice spending time with him. We are doing a little remodeling in our den. Always fun and expensive to make changes. We are going to go from carpet to hardwood floors, taking out the dining area and expanding the den. We hung a flat screen TV over the fireplace and dismantled our 100 gallon salt water fish tank. Moved all of the fish to a holding tank until the hardwoods are down then getting a new bow front corner tank. Did I have time to overeat, no! We did go out to our favorite oriental restaurant tonight for supper. Calorie and carb count a little high today but I will compensate tomorrow.

No loss but no gain! I guess that's good given the fact that I had a couple of bad days where I was not completely under control. Next wee there will be a loss!!
