OK, so there was disappointment this morning on the scales. Usually I lose at least 2 pounds after day one of phase one, and to be up a pound this morning was a bummer. However I have to say that today I am in a really great mood. I am beginning to equate eating low carbs with feeling good. And it's not even because I feel like I lost weight, because I know for a fact that I didn't! I wonder if anyone else has had the same experience. Also, I find myself producing extra saliva and generally in phase one my sleep is negatively affected. Just some things I've noticed in the past and are recurring now. The good mood thing though, I'll take that!

I understand what you are saying. I have been losing very very slowly on sbd, and have gained very quickly since the day before thanksgiving and the feasts I have allowed myself to eat. When watching carbs and sugars, I at least feel as though I am working towards losing weight, and I do feel significantly better because that kind of eating stops my cravings. What I have eaten over the past few days, was not even craving. I was just being a gluton, not caring what all that food would do to my weight and body, in terms of feeling healthier all around-good digestion, etc. So I have to ignore the scales for a while (even though I can't help but weigh in daily) and just concentrate on the program. You too can do this as you discovered today....

The fact that low carb eating removes the constant food obsession is absolutely one of the reasons that I always return to the method when I need to rein myself back in. Isn't it so freeing not to spend every waking minute thinking about what to eat next? The drawback of course is how one day of "gluttony" can bring the obsession back with a vengance. But, like you say, one day at a time and we'll appreciate our highs when they come, and try not to crucify ourselves when we've been less than wonderful!

I used to eat and then need a nap. I would eat dinenr and just lay and watch tv until going to bed. Since eating better on SB, I notice no sluggish feeling after eating. After dinner, now I do housework and even exercise a little and have to STOP myself around 9:00pm! It's amazing how much better the body works when we treat it well. Kind of like our cars huh? ;)

So true. I also have oodles more energy. It's things like that that make me feel that this is such a good, healthy, diet. Anyone else have problems with sleep though I wonder? I'm sure it's all tied into the extra energy.
