MissVicki2224's Journal, 14 Nov 11

It is official - I am healthy!

Had my annual exam; two years ago I had high bad cholesterol and low good cholesterol (they put me on a low cholesterol diet which turned out to be a low fat, high carb diet). Needless to say, bad choice for a sugar addict - I didn't lose much even though I tried!

But after six months of eating low carb, all of my labs are within normal limits with the exception of a mild elevation in my lipids.

I am just a few pounds away from the dreaded 'obese' catagory and will be moving into being just ordinary 'overweight'. Phew. That is a designation that I will be happy to shed.

Eating right/exercising/feeling good!

Blessings all.....

I am so glad to hear about your wonderful results. Did you watch your eggs or fat at all? I switched to egg whites for the most part and olive oil etyc. But I am wondering if that is nessessarily the thing to do.

Thanks friends. Gigi, no I didn't watch my eggs (really), but I didn't overdo on eggs either. I don't love eggs so it was rare to have more than one per day. About fat, I kept the Atkins principle pretty well during induction (a couple of tbsp. per day) then in Phase II when my weight loss stalled I did cut down on extra fats. I have been using coconut oil for cooking; I don't use much olive oil to cook because it burns easily. I don't eat much bacon or pork because of the salt, and I prefer lean cuts so perhaps that factored into the equation. However, when I had high cholesterol before, I was not eating much fat so I think the magic of the Atkins plan and fat burning certainly helped to reduce my cholesterol.

Congrats. I pray for the day that I can say the same, and then the day that someone calls me skinny again. LOL

Haha...well ShyGuy, I have NEVER been called skinny, so I don't anticipate that to happen!
