Katsolo's Journal, 10 Jul 24

Yesterday was just a good day overall. I started work early, so I had no issues walking away on a sunny afternoon and jumping into the pool before puppy class. Helps that the new goggles arrived earlier in the afternoon. Oh, what a difference not fighting leaky goggles makes. Just a good feeling swim and I got my heart rate up out of the first two zones. 899 strokes, 10.8 METs, did the work but it felt great.

Puppy class after, I had to handle all three of my dogs at once, and they are all making good progress when they aren’t trying to stir up trouble with one another.

Row #45 was ten minutes with a couple builds and a longer all-out. Halfway to 90 rows. I wish I could tally up the meters in this effort. I’m sure there’s something out there. Might look this weekend on the logbooks. It’s strange how this is relaxing in a completely different way than swimming. I count when I swim to clear my brain, rowing is more of an exertion but it’s also calming. Probably the whole repetition thing. I like fluidity of movement. I will say that I can tell the rowing has made me a better swimmer.

Everything up this morning, but not really worried. Early call, jumped on the scale and then the phone.

Costco has whey protein now, has anyone tried it? Particularly interested in the chocolate one. Because… chocolate.

Eerie sunset where the sun fell into the marine layer sitting off the coast.

Anyways, computer finished rebooting, back to work. Onwards.

Aah, that sounds like a glorious day and what a beautiful sunset to cap it all off with! It's miserable weather here in England, but at least there was some respite yesterday with a lovely lunch time walk with friends and catching a tiny bit of fleeting sunshine. Hope you have a good week, Kat! xxx

I also find rowing very meditative and good for posture as you’ve said before and overall stronger. It’s great!

I use pea protein, works for me - you are so inspiring, - I think I may start swimming - but in the nearby river....

That's awesome to hear that the rowing complements your swimming so well. I find the counting and repetions at the pool soothing too. 🙂👍🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️🐶🐶🐶

I’m really loving it. I like that it complements swimming and walking rather than fighting them. Best thing, so far, no pain.
