Have you thought of utilizing hypnosis? I did it some years ago to break a bad habit. I am a super skeptical person and I couldn't believe it worked for me. It wore off in a few months, but by then, I was well on my way with new habits.

I am considering it! Did you see a therapist or buy a program?

My mom used hypnosis after 50 years of smoking 2 packs/day and stopped instantly so it can work. Hasn‘t touched a cigarette over 10 years.

Congratulations, it's well worth the effort. My last cigarette was Dec. 31, 1999...

@APhoebe, it was a psychologist. She listed her therapy methods as "EDMR, Acceptance and Committment (ACT), Mind-Body Approahces, Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Somatic, Psychodynamic". She wasn't really focused on talk therapy, although the first few visits were focused on that, then she migrated to using the EDMR, connecting with the B-waves stuff. I wore headphones with strange music B-waves music while she talked to me and she would ask me to "envision" my new habit. She would reinforce it by saying, "you want to do this, there is no more pain, whatever remains you can handle it". To come out of session, she would ask me to take off my socks and roll my bare feet on the carpet. She never called it hypnosis, but that's what it was. They were short half-dozen mini sessions at first, then one longer session. After that long session, I had no inclination to book another appt even though I new she was my psychologist. I just didn't feel the need. A few months later, I was driving and fully came out of it. I was like, no sh*&, I've been hypnotized! I suddenly felt and remembered all the prior discomfort and pain and was super happy that I was past it to the point my life was very manageable.

Good job! I have used hypnosis before as well. I thought it didn't work but realized later that it did. It's worth a try!
