Adjusted technique: keep total carbs at 40 or below. This includes fiber and sugar alcohols. Keep calories at 1500 or below.

I think this will keep my weight loss at 1-2 pounds per week rather than 1 or less per week.

We'll see!!

There's an interesting thread by longer-term Atkineers over on the Atkins site that discusses keeping total carbs at 50 or less if one gets stalled or hits a slowdown. You might want to search for it over there and give it a read. It's not a research study, but several have had some success doing what you describe.

xylitol, what is it and how does it taste BeautifulYno...Xylitol is a natural sweetener that is extracted from the bark of birch trees. It measures like sugar and is about as sweet as sugar. I love it!!! The only down-side is that it is toxic for animals so you do have to be careful if you have animals. You can purchase Xylitol at most grocery stores in their health food section or order online at Netrition.com. Blessings!

Thanks Sandy701. I read the thread (50 or less total carbs). I have given this thought and done more research, and I believe that fiber and sugar alcohol should be dealt with differently. So, I am keeping my sugar alcohol to a lower level but not worrying about the fiber. We'll see how this goes!
