that's unfortunate and costly loss you raise dairy cows right so that's what about 1800 2050 loss ouch not to mention the personal loss of losing an animal you raised from a calf. I don't have much experience with cows my cousin and his family that live next door raised beef cattle. We were a horse farm ourselves and some veggies. Mostly did rescue work when the killers were down in the early nineties and then turned them over and resold them when they were healthy enough. It's probably one of the reasons I don't much care for humans and love animals. Otherwise ran barrels, team penning, etc. for money plus regular jobs of course. I'm sorry for the loss of income and the sorrow for losing a friend. Do you think you lost her in the water when the storm was rising you think maybe the river took her? Maybe there's still some chance that she'll be downstream find a way out or something... GL

Storms like this last one are hard on man and beast.
As good stewards we do what we can and marshall on when we must.
Bottle babies are always special.
Sorry the storm was too much for her.
As I type this I'm looking at an old picture I recently found of my first papered cow who lived to the ripe old age of 16. Still miss her after More than 40 years.

What to do with a dead cow - not just any cow?

Zoofeather, I have a good idea where Daddy lives and it's pretty remote. Chances are she's not accessible by vehicle which is why he was riding circle to check his cattle.
When you live this type of life you learn early to accept life, and loss, as nature and the elements dictate.
We hurt, but accept nature trumps all.
