Happy Tuesday FS friends

So am back from my fieldtrip. It was so good to see my hospital roomie. She lives on a 150 acre farm amidst rolling hills, fields and forests. Once upon a time they were dairy farmers, who moved to Wagyu beef which is when she was badly injured and ended up my roomie with a reconstructed rib cage. They no longer have livestock and have morphed to corn and soy in their retirement. She still has not been able to go into the barn where the cow pinned her and seems to suffer from PTSD even 6 years later. My heart aches for her, as that cow follows her mentally wherever she goes. She is such a darling lady as is her husband.

They treated me like a total princess. Did I overeat? Oh yes. I was served more in one meal than I consume in a single day but OMG it was good. Her scalloped potatoes were to die for, loaded with cheese and ham chunks, Turkey, butternut squash, turnips mashed with carrots, salads, gravy, the works. Oh did I mention the wine? The dessert, was a chocolate trifle with chunks of Skor bars. Servings were huge. Life hasn't ended because there were a couple of overindulgent days. My hosts went to a lot of trouble to make things so nice for me, and it was incumbent on me to enjoy every little bit of what was offered.

Their home is an 1800's farm house, and I must admit I slept like a log. After the early dinner thank heavens we went for a long walk over the hills, into the dales, through the forest. As older folk, two of us with replaced hips and the third with a reconstructed ribcage, we were quite proud that we are now able to wander around like normal folks. Yeehaw.

The next day I went to London to see my friend who moved heaven and earth to get me the surgery I needed. Am so very glad that I did, as her immediate family is not in a good way healthwise, nor is she. That visit gave her some respite from thinking about all that is going on. So glad I went.

So that's it from me.

Over and out.
