Sandy701's Journal, 08 Jul 11

Another 3.4 miles walked today. Luckily, I started off early, well, earliER, and so it was only 81 degrees with cloud cover. Dogs got to go 1.5 miles since it was cooler and there was no sun beating down on us. But, there wasn't much of any kind of breeze, so all the humidity was just hanging on us.

Took them home and set out to finish up; still only 82 degrees. I had about a mile to go and the sun began to break through, which heated everything up, including me. Finished in 87-degree heat. I just love flopping into the pool after a long, hot walk.

Had my haircut over in a neighboring town and then shopped for a new blind for the bathroom and a few other assorted items. Now, it's time for a belated lunch, but I'm looking forward to it. I've been trying to fit the Pumpkin Chili into my day for about a week now, but it always seems like I can't quite get it balanced in there. Today - it works! I'm staying away from the peanuts and made sure to measure out 1 serving of cheese for breakfast so that excess cheese and peanuts aren't taking up calorie room.

For myself only...I'm finding that while carb control is important and the cornerstone of this WOE, calorie control is also important as I'm getting smaller and approaching goal. I'm beginning to experiment with cutting back some calories even at the expense of adding a SMALL amount of carbs, as in salad dressings. No, I won't be making my own, just not into that right now. Finding the right balance should be interesting.

Sandy I think its great you take your dogs for a walk. They need it just as bad as we do...If left a lone they would walk all over the place..proud of you getting your cals straightened out so you can have the foods your wanting...and still be where you need to be...Have a great weekend.....Bren

Sandy you are so good at putting things in perspective! Balance is key, I agree (hey that rhyms!), carb control, calorie control, & don't forget the excercise & water - YIKES, it is a lot! But, that is what it takes to be successful & beyond that, maintain. You are doing a wonderful job. I always admire your drive & committment (I am very sure the doggies love it). I feel like a slacker, since I didn't do ANY form of excercise last week (too busy w/work), but the crunch is over & starting Monday I'll be back at it. You have a wonderfull weekend.

Sandy - Thanks for your post - it reminds me that I need to spend some serious revamping of my menus - so crazy around here lately I've been popping "whatever is handy" into my mouth.

Bren, the dogs are so into the AM walking routine, they do all sorts of things to goad me into it! When does your trip start?

Dar, the way you're dropping pounds, that week off is no problem, obviously your metabolism is still cranking away! Enjoy your wwekend too....maybe some boating?

BuffyBear, that "whatever is handy" sounds an awful like me and peanuts. Somehow, celery doesn't have the same appeal. Now maybe if it had some nut butter....!!! Have a restful weekend.
