I got the Tanita scale from Amazon yesterday. According to it my body fat is 28.2%. Which pops my bubble a bit as my best efforts to take caliper measurements indicated around 21%. But the good news is that at least I have a tool to track my fat/muscle mass levels and it's giving me some renewed motivation to step things up and work harder. Regardless of whether BIA fat measurements are the most accurate or not, having a gauge to measure progress with is worth the price of the scale. If I can get down to 15/18% by the scale's measure maybe I'll spring the $$ for a water/dunk test to know for sure. Checking the body fat charts on builtlean.com I'm smack in the middle of average for my age which to me is surprising - thought I'd be above average in fat level. But who wants to be average? Not me, lean sounds much better.
Finished eating last night before 6pm so that sets me up for a nice intermittent fasting period today. So nothing but coconut oil and coffee before 2pm, a little over 20 hours fasting. I'll also get in a 3 mile walk while fasting during my lunch break. Gotta work that fat percentage down! :) Have a great day.

Thanks Rockiesfan. Nope, it's not got me down, just maybe a more realistic picture of where I am and where I want to be. But if anything it's a motivator, I'm locked and loaded, ready to roll!

I found the best way to measure the fat, in trying on different size jeans

One does not turn into "The Rock" overnight :) Like Rockiesfan said - Do not let this discourage you. Just enjoy your new toy and track your progress. And good luck with that fast. I only do the 16:8 so 20 hours is more than I can fathom.

Thanks Buffy. I find that if I hang in there, resist the temptation to eat and drink lots of water I get past the "hungry" stage. Coconut oil helps too, just had that in my final cup of morning coffee. Knowing in a few hours I can eat a nice meal and feel pretty full helps me stick it out.
