jmb3450's Journal, 15 Dec 14

No weight gain over the weekend which I'm very happy with, have held off eating the treats of the season for the most part. I've been pushing myself more and more with cycling; yesterday I had my heart rate at 151 which is a bit over 90% of my maximum rate. Only stayed there for a minute but still I'm glad to be able to do that and not feel discomfort in my chest. My wife freaked out when I told her so I've promised not to do it again until after I talk with my cardiologist about it, probably a wise thing.

Yesterday we made turkey vegetable soup with the turkey carcass and leftovers from the freezer, simmered it all day and it's delicious. Kept the noodles separate so my wife can add them to hers and I can eat it without. There's enough leftover to feed us through the week, makes meal planning simpler at least. Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Great job Jim! Def talk to your cardiologist about heart rate and exercise. I also keep the noodles seperat in those types of dishes and it helps a lot. :)

Kathy, I have 5 stents in my heart. I've been targeting 110 to 130 bpm and really should stay in that range until I talk with my cardiologist, have just been happy that I've been able to push farther and it feels ok.

Soup does sound good, and with your heart rate going up that is a good thing even if your cardiologist says 110-130, as you lose weight get stronger your heart will get stronger also so yes talk to your doctor but you can still push a bit, in my opinion
