Feeling tired today, and the cold weather and stiff wind make it unlikely I'll be doing any walking today. Maybe Stairmaster later - maybe.
Did you ever notice how sometimes it's just worth it to try a shortcut? I'm not talking dieting here. But, for instance, I just renewed my driver's license online. DH and I actually hold our residency elsewhere, so we're an out-of-state renewal. If you look at the state's instructions for how to renew from out-of-state, it's got 6-7 documents one has to provide. A lot of them are of the type that make me uneasy putting copies into the postal system!
But, then I find a page that gives me the criteria for renewing online and I find I meet all of them. So which path do I follow? Do I take a chance at online renewal, wondering if somewhere down the line, all too close to my renewal date, someone will realize I'm "out-of-state" and should have submitted all those extra documents? Or do I just give it a go with the online process and trust that it will all work out? Why didn't the out-of-state renewal page begin with a "Check to see if you are eligible to renew online" step?
In the past, I wouldn't have worried about such a thing. But several years ago, I had problems renewing from another state and nearly had to go through all the permitting and behind-the-wheel tests again!! Not that I couldn't have passed them, but the time, effort, fees, and hassle were things I wanted to avoid.
So, anyway, I took the plunge this AM and renewed online. Everything says "successful" so we'll see what happens. At least I have some time to straighten things out if need be - BEFORE the license actually expires!
