95% of dieters fail, sadly. Too many push too hard or go too strict and think it's the only way to be. You see it all the time.

It’s only a matter of time before we all have to hold ourselves accountable for something because perfection isn’t usually part of our repertoire. And being held accountable is super uncomfortable, especially with an audience. Only some of us are more comfortable excepting that and embracing the support along the way..... It is easier to quit for some

Back in the day there was a young lady on here who was morbidly obese and whose life was in the shitter. Difficult to read many of her posts. But she was honest and a grinder and I found her grit inspiring. As many do, she dropped her first 75# and disappeared from FS. Assumed she was away eating. Wrong. She turned up a couple years later fit af. Crossfitter IIRC. Supergenius tier transformation. She had just outgrown us here at Facebook for Fatties.

This site is the reason I've been able to lose the weight I have. The kindness and support of everyone here keeps me going. And seeing the success of so many people inspires me every day.

This site has been so amazing! I had been very religious in keep up with my food and water intake. I love the community here! I guess they thought they would give it a shot but couldn't stick with it. I could relate to that in many ways more than one.

It’s an awesome website. It’s free, it works, it has support and you can come back! Food is no less an addiction than drugs. You must fight it a d you must have support to do that! Thank you to everyone who has been there for me in my attempts! I have come farther than I ever have before and really think I may make my second goal. 196, that will have put almost 100 lbs behind me....

It's a sad fact, people now in days need that instant satisfaction and instant results. We who follow logic know that if we eat healthy for one day, we will not lose weight after just one day. But you'd be surprised how many people believe that, and want that to happen! If it is not happening within one week, they are discouraged and want to quit. That is what I look out for, and try to encourage them to continue, it will happen, just not in the timeline they are wanting.

Man, was looking at people I follow and I had forgotten many old regulars. Kennyn, demigod, Johncip, Vocatus, etc. Hope they're doing well!

Vcabral, yes, I spoke to someone recently who said they don't believe in CICO because they didn’t lose weight for 3 weeks after losing for a while so they quit. 3 weeks is NOTHING compared to the rest of your life. Stay on track and have patience and eventually win or fail for the rest of your life. Seems like an easy choice to me.

I think people join FS because they think it will be a helpful tool. Some have lost weight and others haven't. Some are still here and some have left. I think people give FS too much credit for their weight loss. If that were true everyone who joins would be successful. The primary reasons people have challenges with dieting are that they don't have the support of their partners, family and friends and are under constant pressure to just "taste this" or "how about this diet" and in a constant flux of others opinions. When someone commits to a diet plan and is successful they should have support and not be steered in another direction. Another reason is they use food as a way to deal with stress, depression and boredom which leads to overeating and unhealthy relationships with food as a crutch. Another reason is they fail to plan... i.e. meal preparation and planning. Everyday they walk out the door not knowing what is for lunch and dinner and end up grabbing on the go or eating out of hunger. Another reason is socializing with other people always involves food when it doesn't have to have such an importance. People haven't learned how to say "no thank you" or pass on food in social situations. The reason you see people leave and come back is because they haven't learned how to deal with these things.

This was just the post that I needed to see! I can find truth in every one of the comments here. For me, sugar/carbs are addictive. With other addictions, such as alcohol, drugs or gambling even, you can live and even avoid these places and people who are doing these things. But you can’t avoid food because you have to encounter it every day to live! I know I’m definitely a stress eater, and I was much happier two years ago when I was eating right and exercising/weightlifting. FS was a lifesaver for me—IS a lifesaver—and I know if I do the right thing and use food as the fuel it’s meant to be, then I can be successful again. CICO and exercise/lifting is what works for me, and I need you people to help me remember this. Praying helps me as well, and I ask God to take away my addictive behavior so I can live a better life overall. I remember those you mentioned, Diablo, and I hope they’re doing well, too. 😊🎈

60 pack, maybe, like me, just took a break. I hope so. Be well!

I am following you. Took a break to gain 35# but glad to see you are here! I always remember you because my roommate was a truck driver for a number of years, and we both are in awe of your discipline and healthy lifestyle.

Sometimes life happens (sickness, preganancy. death in the family, accidents, etc), you stop logging. Harder to get back to being accountable. Been there. so many have come back to FS. Great, supportive community. The naysayers never last long. Too many people expect instant results. Excess weight didn't come on over night, takes longer to lose it. It's a commitment

Lot of great responses here! My 2cents worth is this... THIS APP will not do the work for you! This app will keep you accountable if you're giving your all and entering truthfully what you've put in your body. Most people [not all] look for the trendy oh this is working for everyone else let me try it spot. This is one of those spots for sure. It's not easy sharing the good and bad. Some people try for a few weeks and quit. The same way as the gym. I've said this a hundred times since I've been on here. If you don't fix what you're eating prior to expecting results. Then you're just setting yourself up for failure. Fix your diet then worry about joining a gym or becoming more fit. It's just too much for most people to take on all at one time. I can say without a doubt for myself. Without the accountability of weigh ins/calorie nutritional calculator I would not be 55 lbs down. Make good decisions and do the hard parts that most want to avoid. Reap the benefits It's literally that simple!
