Sandy701's Journal, 29 Oct 10

I didn't go walking yesterday after all, so the 3.1 miles for today seemed pretty easy. I did Stairmaster yesterday, so it wasn't a total day off.

What a difference a weather front makes!! It was only 56 degrees this morning when the dogs and I went out - clear and breezy. I almost wore long pants but opted for shorts, anyway. I've had to get out my "new" size 16 shorts to walk now, as the 18's are beginning to slide down. I have to keep hiking them up, which is annoying. So, the new clothing rotation is 18's for around the house and 16's for walking. This leaves my 20's pretty much out of the picture now. They've been fitting bigger and looser to the point where it seems ludicrous to wear them anymore, even around the house.

I'm definitely having a weight issue (yeah, I know, aren't we all). I dropped out ReddiWip and sugar alcohols as a test about 2 weeks back and initially dropped a pound or two faster than usual, on the brink of dropping a third pound that week! I also happened to be at less than 30 TOTAL carbs during that time, but it was unintentional. My weight dropped from 190 to 188 and was close to 187. Then, everything seemed to stop and I stayed at 188. Thinking that my test really made no difference because the pounds didn't continue to drop, I re-added sugar alcohols, ReddiWip, and my total carbs went back to where they had been prior to my test. This didn't happen all on the same day, but was over a period of a couple days.

Well, the result of the re-additions was that I stayed at 188 - and stayed - and stayed, but finally just dropped to 187 this week on Monday. Today is Friday and there's been just 1 other day this week that I've been at 187 (point something). The rest, I've been back in the 188's. Thinking that something in the 188's is my true weight right now, that means I've been at 188 since 10/16, nearly a full 2 weeks. This is the first time in 7 months that I've stayed the same for that length of time.

As I'm typing this, I realize the obvious solution is to drop the ReddiWip and sugar alcohols again and see what happens. I'm out of RW anyway (guilty face) and the only sugar alcohol is in the 1 bar I use for a snack (and have been using for months, except during the test).

Although I have no measurements to check, I do know that those size 18 shorts I used for walking for quite some time now, just became too big in the last week or so, slipping down from my waist, so I suppose that's an indication of losing (partial) inches.

I really don't want to give up my snack bar - it's my one indulgence - but I guess it's the only way to see if it, and the RW, are what's slowed me down so appreciably.

It's also noteworthy that during this time at 188, I've been more tired than usual and not sleeping all that well.

The body, it is a mystery....

Yes Sandy the body is a mystery. As you get closer to your goal weight, you will slow way down. But in the long run, the slower it comes off the more likely it is to say off. You have done and are doing a fabulous job. Keep up the great work because we are all worth it. BIG CONGRATS on the lost size. Yes that also counts as weight gone even though the scale hasn't moved. Your body is just trying to catch up to itself. You hang in there because you are doing wonderful. Have a great evening.:)

Sandy that happened to me when I hit 194. I just stayed there and stayed there. Then I started losing again, and have lost 6 pounds since then. It is definately slower. So I am moving to OWL and will see if that helps. You are doing fantastic, keep up the great work!

Keep up the good work Sandy!! I know it is frustrating!!!! Hope you have a good weekend. I made a taco salad tonight with ground turkey seasoned with taco stuff, cheese, cucumhers, kettuce, tomatoes, black olives and made a salad dressing out our sour cream, Franks hot sauce and some salsa dressing. It was yummy!!!

Laurie, I was just hoping that the slowing of weight loss wouldn't happen as yet because I've still got 40+ pounds to lose. I just checked and if I stay at 188 to close out this month, I'll have lost 4 pounds, 5 pounds if I can manage/stay at 187 on Sunday. The past 2 months I've lost 5 pounds each, so I guess I'm not all that far off track. I'm just so used to seeing the scale dropping a pound each week...

Stef, I definitely remember your stall and how you still stayed with doing everything on plan plus adding so much exercise during that time. I hope my patience won't be tested to that degree! I think you'll enjoy OWL - gotta do it sometime, right? I'm actually scared to do OWL correctly, so I'm doing a kind of hybrid Induction/OWL. I don't WANT to find out where my limit is just yet, so I'm postponing the "real" OWL until I'm either at or very close to goal. You can go blaze a trail for all the rest of us chickens! LOL!
