Sandy701's Journal, 20 Oct 10

I did that food bunching thing with my eating again yesterday - STOP THAT!!! Too much food left to be eaten too late in the day.

DH had been off for a couple days, so that's what I blame it on. His projects take him into the early evening hours, so everything tends to run later. That's not bad, in and of itself, except when it gets my food routine delayed. It's just one of those things I'll need to make an adjustment for, because this project of his will go on for a several months.

Today was yet another gorgeous day for walking. I went 3.3 miles, bringing the weekly total to 10.7 miles and the challenge total to 65.0 miles. The first 2.3 miles, the doggies were along. Then, I went out and did the last mile by myself and tried to increase speed to the 3.5mph rate - that's a mile in 17 minutes. That's really moving, IMO, and I think it might actually be easier to jog than to walk at that pace. Anyway, I hit the 17 minutes when I was just 1 house away from my own, so I was pretty close. But I don't think I'll be walking at that pace on a regular basis. If I find myself wanting to, I think that'll be my cue to begin a jogging program.

Count your blessings, everyone. Care for them and use them for the good of others.

Sandy, I walk at 4 mph and you are right, it is quite strenuous. I cannot jog because of my knees, so I walk. Have you ever seen the old movie "Walk, Don't Run" with Cary Grant and Jim Hutton? It was the last feature film done by Cary Grant. Great old movie and it shows the "correct" way to walk, for optimum speed. lol I really need to order that movie for my Cary Grant collection. My fav is "Arsenic and Old Lace".

Sandy, the RW is calling my name. It is such a little devil, sitting in that fridge, saying, "Stef, come eat me!!" lol Think I'll go for a walk instead!

You are doing great with your walking. I really need to get off my duff and walk too. The weather here was perfect too. Won't have many more days like it.:)

Oh no, Stef....fight that call! I've given in and feel a bit like Scarlett O'Hara...."I can't think about that today, I'll think about that tomorrow" or something like that. Haven't seen that movie but sounds like I need to! I thought about your walking when I was trying my darndest to make time. I have absolute respect for anyone who can walk that fast.

Laurie, take a stroll and enjoy the weather. Don't worry about time or distance, just enjoy. Who knows? Might become a habit!

I LOVE walking - and since I am still pretty heavy right now I am not going super fast, but I am consistent and doing it every single day - a mile or two several days each week. I find that I am going much faster than I did in mid-September, so it will only get better as I go. I love the feeling of pushing myself - I love hiking inclines that work those muscles and I tell myself "Sweat is my friend. Feel the burn. The burn is my friend." :D I love the energy it gives me and the increase I see in my metabolic rate. I have Poly-Cystic Ovar. Syndrome, so it makes the weight loss slower for me than someone w/o PCOS, but I am determined to not let it stop me. You ladies who are doing it and making it happen are such an inspiriation. I'm right behind you - I am focused and seeing great results. BTW, Steph, I LOVE the movie Arsenic and Old Lace - nothing funnier! I haven't seen that since I was in my teens. Where on earth could I could a hold of that movie, after all these years? Do you have a special source you order the older movies from?
