Well, hello everyone, I am turning 40 in October, and the old-age-weight rumors are coming true: For 20 years my weight was steadily within a 5 lb range. In the last 3 months I have put on 11 lbs - even while paying more attention to what I eat. The pounds keep creeping up on the scale, the cellulite has appeared and it's spreading like a wild fungus - I am feeling helpless, hopeless and VERY down on myself. When I noticed my body changing, I tried Atkins for 1 month, but couldn't keep away from the carbs after that. Today I began a pilates workout on tape, and I broke down crying b/c my clothes were so tight, and the fat I've acquired became glaringly noticeable in certain exercises. Good news, I finished the workout - even if teary-eyed. I was laid off last month, so stress is probably a contributing factor, and it didn't help my confidence much either. I hope I don't appear petty to those who have had to cope with weight issues most of your lives. I imagine my personal challenge may not seem very dire to some folks out there, as my weight gain # might not seem very high...the truth is it's kicking my butt, and I don't wanna let it get me down any longer. I am grateful you're out there, and I hope to learn and give/get support by participating on this site... Thanks for the company during this uncomfortable transition!:) I signed up for the Holiday & Fall Challenges (going to a beach for my 40th w/ my sisters - great choice, right? bikini-haha!).
