Well, here goes! Atkins has aways worked in the past for me. But, since my last success with this diet, I have injured my spine and had it fused. Due to the injury, and subsequent lack of beneficial exercise...I have gained 50 pounds, and to top it off, have hypothyroid now. I tried Weight Watchers for 4 months, stuck to it religiously...and only lost 4 pounds. That was a depressing pound a month! This was when I was tested, and I was informed that I had the thyroid condition. My Dr. was confused when I got all excited when she informed me I was hypothyroid! I said at least I know something was causing me to have a difficult time losing weight while sticking to a dietplan that should and has worked for most people!(Weight Watchers) It has been a year since I was diagnosed. My Synthroid levels are stable now. So now, I figure I am ready...to follow the only diet that worked for me before; to help get me back to my pre-injury physical condition. I know I need to lose weight to get the extra stress off my back...so, if you can relate, have a thyroid condition, or just want to talk...please keep in touch :-)
Thanks, Raven

I injured my back 10 years ago, so I can relate. I am also slightly hypothyroid, my blood tests come back normal, but I go to a naturopath who had me test my basal body temperature and he said according to that I am hypothyroid. He prescribed Atkins for me to help strengthen my adrenals and therefore my thyroid. I believe cutting carbs will help your thyroid too. Be sure they are monitoring your medication as you decrease carbs. Message me any time and welcome!

WOW...that was fast <comments> lol ;-)
Before I was diagnosed with hypothyroid or tried WW's, Atkins would not work for me. I followed the induction diet the way I did before when it worked...but did not get the weightloss success I had...by a longshot. I am hoping that now (with the help of my meds and my TSH levels in the 'normal' ranges), Atkins will again work for me.

Sounds alot like me, I have tried to go low cal/low fat so many times. Unless I work out 7 days a week for about 1 1/2 hours a day, the numbers on the scale don't move. It is so depressing, especially when you eat so good! Anyway, I hope this works for you again. I'm routing for ya!!
I started Atkins on tuesday this week, I refuse to jump on the scale for two weeks though because I'm afraid if I don't lose, I'll quit. So I'm thinking maybe I'll just use how the clothes are fitting for judgement now and wait until I know I've lost.
We can do it!!!
