Hi everyone! I missed you. I am back from my vacation. Thanks for all your sweet comments on my last journal entry.
So, not only did I not get closer to my goal while I was gone but I gained 4 lbs. Wow. I guess my friend's lifestyle threw me off a little. I got a ton of exercise-- walking as much as 8 hours out of the day around Philadelphia and also scaling a mountain at one point (haha-- ie, hiking, off the trail). But it was the eating that threw me off. For one thing, my friend is vegan, and I ate vegan all weekend. Although I used to be vegan, too, this was a lot more carbs than I am used to lately, so I think I gained some water weight. Plus, a little of it was "bad carbs." I never eat bad carbs, but my friend is unconcerned with them. Weightwise, she doesn't need to be. She is so skinny that meeting her at the airport was a shock to my eyes-- its disturbing to hear her complain on the phone all the time about how she needs to lose weight and then see that she actually weighs less (proportionally) than anyone I know. Anyway, she also likes to eat at weird hours-- it doesn't phase her to eat breakfast at ten, skip lunch (or eat a snack while doing something at 3) and then eat a huge dinner at 8. Had I stayed longer I could have found ways to work around her habits but I was only just figuring out the way she does things and then it was time to go. I was surprised to feel pretty sure it was the timing and not so much the veganism that made me feel not quite myself the whole time I was there. That and PMS. Aunt Flo decided to visit the morning of my plane ride home-- what good timing (sarcasm :) since I already feel sick on planes anyway!
Well, I might sound a little whiny, but I actually had a great time. It was wonderful to see my friend and to meet her boyfriend, whom, it turns out, she will probably marry. I did not get to see my other friend/ex-love David. He thought he "might be coming down with something" which hurt my feelings a little, but I feel peaceful in the knowledge that no matter what was behind it, his decision is about him and not about me. I saw one of my closest friends, and we had a blast!

I have a lot to do before I go back to work tomorrow, but I plan to check back and see what y'all have been up to later. I'm looking forward to it! Hope everyone is well... have a wonderful day!
