"Errr...maam...you do realize..ahem..that this is a store for...well...plus size women!"

LOL...never were sweeter words uttered to me..beats I love you hands down!!

Went shopping today and first stop was Lane Bryant. That comment from the salesman made me want to just walk out and say..oh yes..sorry I didnt realize that I was too petite for this place...I WISH!

Well, I have discovered that I am a size 1 in Lane Bryant..size 1..I wasnt a size 1 when I was born! Boy, I love these new labels. The only problem was that they only had two style of jeans. The straight cut rode right up my backside making for a a cheap thrill for some, but uncomfortable for me. The other one was boot cut flare. Flare?? It looked like I had two highway cones stuck inside my lower trousers!

So Lane Bryant was a flop. I was only looking for jeans so I had to go elsewhere. I had researched on the internet that DKNY have great jeans for curvy butt women like myself. Next stop, Macys. Well Donna Karan, you arent in my Macys, not in the style I wanted anyway.

I did find a wonderful chinese collar duster jacket with pants. Guess what? Size 8! Ok..so the trousers felt like they were going to tear from the rear even though I managed to close the zip and button, but the jacket is, as my son would say 'tight' (not tight as in illfitting but tight as in really cool). So I paid for the luxury of having a nice jacket basically, though I cant close the button on the hip area, YET!! (That will be on my mini goals now!)

Got a dress in size 14. Got a pant in size 12 petite and got two blouses in size large from the teens section. The woman ringing up my shopping asked..area all of these for you? I said yes..but they're all different sizes she exclaimed. Yes I know I replied, I have an out of whack body, what can I say? Then she went on about how skinny I looked and I didnt look like I belonged to the plus size section. Sweetheart, lower your gaze to my butt and you will see why...I am bootylicious and nutritious down to my footilicious!

(for any of you who dont know, I am squash shaped. I wear size 4/6 upper body but size 1x lower body) Oh, size 1x is now an ex because I figured out today that I range from a size 10-14 depending on the company. I have also learnt that if you want good pair of jeans, a few tips are:

-Find jeans with spandex as the other fabric. A lot of companies are now labelling their jeans stretch because of added spandex. 2% spandex is good although one or two companies actually make 4% spandex mix jeans which allows your jean to bloat when you do.

-If you find a good stretch jean, buy one size smaller than you normally would because after one or two wears, it will stretch more and more. (Just make sure it isnt tight originally, but fitted)

Hold on, this means I have lost weight. I have moved down from my previous size..even if the weighing scales dont seem to agree with this newfound discovery..sod off you stupid scales, you shall depress me no longer!! (Now I know why shopping is called retail therapy..I feel so much better...but I could do with some more counselling tomorrow I think!!)

I'm so happy for you. I got a lot of enjoyment out of your journal today. I am pear shaped, love that you took it one step further to squash shaped, lol. I know all too well what you described. I often have to take at least 2 sizes of the same exact thing because I never know how that particular brand or store is going to work. It's frustrating because it means that many more trips to the dressing room in order to try on everything you'd like to. Sometimes, there's a line, oh noooooo. That's when I'm like whatever and give up after the first try. I agree on the jeans also, a little spandex goes a long way! Congrats on getting smaller!

WOO HOO!! What a great retail therapy day you had! Those kind of days make us feel so good! Finding things that fit AND in a smaller size. **Doin' the happy dance for you** :) The only place I can find jeans that fit me nice is at Fashion Bug...the Xanadu jeans. They have some stretch in them and that's why they fit good. I agree...another day of therapy would be great ;)

That was a hillarious commentary! I wish I could go shopping with you. I too have a heiny and have trouble fitting clothes. I range from a 6 to a 10 and a very oddly shaped size 4 levi jean fit me, but it was NOT flattering! so it doesn't count. And I'm an "extra-small to a medium" top depending on the brand. LOL. A lot of times for non-denim pants I get a size larger and tailor them to fit my waist because if it fits in the hips it is usually too big for the waist. I can't stand that! Congrats on all the compliments and you must have lost inches! I'm so happy for you. :)

Caged liberty......we could shop in the same section...I too am bootilicious. I'm just curvy period but the curves are getting smaller. You are doing a great job. and you know when it's all said and done...it's all about the jeans- no one will ever remember the numbers but you'll remember feeling cute in your jeans- good job!!!!
