Sandy701's Journal, 28 Nov 12

Walked 3.1 miles with both doggies in cloudy, cool weather....in the low 50's. I realize this would be a heat wave for GG-Girl, but for me, it's rather chilly requiring multiple layers of clothing!

I'll be at the thrift store this afternoon and tomorrow will have a mega-errand day over in the neighboring cities, including a haircut.

I adjusted my own pounds-to-go numbers on my kitchen bulletin board. This past summer, once I got within 20 pounds of goal, I made up big, colorful number cards to count down the last pounds. I've continued to keep the numbers up there, even after hitting goal, showing how much I'm varying within Maintenance.

I decided to see if I can drop to 140 and then maintain within the 140's. They're only numbers, I realize, but I'd rather bounce around in the 140's than pop up into the 150's. It seems my body wants to add 5 or so pounds when I'm in Maintenance rather than weight-loss mode, partially due to some rehydration, so I'm trying to accommodate that. I don't know if this will work, but I'm giving it a try.

I also have a weird outlook that if I'm just a couple pounds up from "goal," I tend to think, "No problem...been there already....can always get back to it...maybe tomorrow." While a low number was motivating ("Just 2 more pounds...") on the way to goal initially, it has lost its motivation after hitting goal. So, I'm hoping that seeing a higher number up there on the bulletin board will actually provide me with extra motivation to keep on track more strictly.

Instead of seeing a single digit up on the board yesterday, it was really a different experience seeing "13." Who knows if this will work....we'll see.

Sounds like a great idea and a good way to keep it "in your face" so to speak. I hope it works for you. Really excited for you and your progress!

Oh the mind games one must play! But really, I think you are on the right track aiming for the "low end" of your range. As we all know, given the right situation (Holiday, vacation, etc.) things can get out of hand rather quickly.

OK...so I almost spit water out my nose...LOL...really 50's & you are cold? Truth is, me too, LOL! Just imagine what you wear for 50's & add a warm layer for each 10 degree drop. Yup...@ 10 degrees I have on 5-6 layers on the top, plus at least 2 layers on the bottom, plus hats (yes plural), gloves (just one pair), & a jacket. I look like the stay-puff-marshmallow girl. Heat wave is headed my way this weekend I hear, so thanks for sharing, then I will have a little time to catch up on my laundry. I was thinking just like Buffy, oh, the games we play with ourselves. Well, I believe whatever it takes to keep the game going is fair play. Staying motivated is all about Positive Mental Attitude.

Jaime, it really is in my face! Although lately, my bulletin board is so full of coupons, bargains, and calendar notes, it's even getting hard to see an 8x11 neon-colored piece of cardstock with a number on it!

Buffy....some days it's just whatever it takes to bring a fresh focus to something. Otherwise things can get so typical, they're all too easy to ignore.

Gosh, GG....I hope you weren't outside! All that water would have frozen immediately and could've made for a pretty funny picture! LOL!

Thanks Deb. Sometimes it's good to get a reminder of that!
