Sandy701's Journal, 30 Aug 12

Intermittent heavy rain means no outdoor walking today. We had some heavy showers fall on us 4 separate times during yesterday's walk, so I think that's my quota for the week!

So, I fired up the ol' XBox and played games for about 40 minutes, taking my calories burned from my HRM, divided in half because it seems to over-estimate the calories.

I managed to stay out of Peanut Butter & Whipped Cream Land yesterday, although it WAS tempting. Dreary, rainy days don't help matters and not being able to go do my favorite volunteer activity yesterday adds to the funk. But these things happen and I've got to focus on ME being in charge. I am NOT at the mercy of outside forces, weather, schedules, events....I am the MASTER (or, is it the MISTRESS??) of my own destiny. I am in control of my foods....NO ONE ELSE!

If I screw up, that's on ME, not the weather, some occasion, or anything else. I AM RESPONSIBLE!

And I know I can handle this.

Yes Sandy you can. And you do very well at it, too. Walking in a nice quiet misty rain is great. Walking in downpours not so much.

Congrats on the Anti-Peanut Butter & Whipped Cream standoff. Good job! I know you can do this, you have done such inspiring things on your journey. But I do have to say...Oh Sandy...you so sound like me this morning....Whose in charge here anyway, I asked myself...You or the Carbs? A tiny voice inside said me, then a little louder, Yeah Me, I AM....I DECIDE...I WILL CHOOSE how I want my body to look. I think it was Paula's post from the other day about how we would eat if given the body of our dreams, it must have hit home, (Thanks Paula), little steps = one choice at a time. Xbox sounds like a great alternative to getting totally drenched. Probably helps keep the spirits up too!

Thanks Karen. The rain showers yesterday were actually not too bad, but of course, I was able to walk on the treed side of the street to stay a bit drier. Today, it would not have provided me with any shelter!

Yes, yes, yes GG....WE choose. Not the circumstances in our lives, but US! We ALWAYS have a choice....just have to exercise it! XBox is fun...even that adventure where you have to bat a ball into bales of hay. That one always gets me but today I think I did marginally better. Of course, any kid who's done these adventures would probably be laughing at my pitiful attempts, but.... LOL!

Bren, if you do go workout on the Wii, just be careful given your recent injuries. Hope you're having a good day!
