Found out today I need to carb up on Harvey work days in the heat. A little woozie working @ 100f today in San Antonio! No stored energy left I guess thought I was going to pass out! Pounding down the water etc. much better this afternoon after pancakes, eggs, bacon , sausage etc!

Sometimes adding salt along with the extra water can help me when I feel that way. Stay safe!! Glad you felt better after a good meal.

Yes I’ve heard this about salt as related to working in heat too. I’ve been conscious about my salt intake the last few years but doing this low carb thing seems to have made me crave salt. Even had a truck stop waitress say that’s normal on low carb diet? My lifelong “normal” blood pressure was a little elevated too for my DOT physical Monday too. Any other discussions on this salty topic? Thanks HOT MOMMA 😜

More salt cravings have been with me the past week or so, too. Tried some Quest protein chips yesterday, but the relief was mild. Last weekend a slice of American cheese helped more. Be careful, 60pack, especially when you are working alone. That heat is a killer!

Insulin directs your kidneys to hold onto more sodium. If you are doing low-carb, you are experiencing lower levels of insulin and consequently excreting more sodium. When you sweat, you lose some sodium. I try and take in extra salt when I do low-carb. It keeps me feeling better. I've never had blood pressure problems though...
