The trip to Portland went well, despite waking up with a nasty cold on Thursday morning. I drugged myself up with cold medicine, drank a ton of Emergen-Cs, lots of water and V8s, and managed to get through the weekend without feeling like complete garbage. I got home Sunday evening, was finally able to relax, and the fatigue began to set in. Fortunately I had Monday off, and am taking a sick day today. My boss does not want to come into contact with this and risk ruining her trip to Arizona next week.
It was hard to eat well on the trip, but I managed to do alright. Even when I thought I was pretty hungry, less than half of what I was served completely filled me up. I think this cold was partly to blame - food tasted off. That, and it seemed that everything I was served in Portland was slightly burned. The worst damage I did was drinking beer and eating ribs and potato salad in the middle of the night with my brother on Saturday night. We hadn't gotten to spend any time together the whole trip, so that was fun. We designed a tattoo. I had shown him one I designed, and that sparked another idea he had, and between the two of us we came up with a great tattoo for him. I don't know if he'll get it, but it was fun coming up with it - definitely a conversation piece if he does.
And as of this morning I have lost 3 pounds! Yay! I think I'm on the mend now from this cold, but I'm still plugged up, so I will wait to see how I feel tomorrow before trying to get back on the treadmill. Breathing is a challenge right now, and would not be pleasant on a treadmill.
